NEW YORK - A 17-year-old with a grudge against his former Long Island high school planned with his girlfriend to buy shotguns, enter his old school and indiscriminately shoot down students and teachers days before his ex-classmates were scheduled to graduate, police said Friday.
The two teenagers extensively researched bomb making, attempted to buy a shotgun and set a June 10 date for the planned attack on Connetquot High School in Bohemia, Suffolk County police Sgt. Bill Doherty said.
Evidence from the 16-year-old girl's computer and cell phone showed they'd searched bomb-making and explosives websites, and exchanged text messages in which they discussed plans to buy firearms and kill people, police said
There is really something wrong with the children of today. I think it has a lot to do with how they are raised. Parents are too busy with work, to really sit down and listen to their children. Parents now a days do not even punish their children anymore, because they are afraid of getting into trouble or arrested. I do believe in spanking. I think children get awake with a lot of things now then what children in my day and age has. It seems like as time passes by the children are growing worse. Some people would like to blame video games, music, violence on TV. I can not blame such things. I believe it is the parents responsibility to teach their children right from wrong. I believe that parents need to spend more time with their children. If their child does something wrong, give them a punishment. Do not give in when the children cry it isn’t fair. I think parents are to leant on their children, or they just do not want to deal with them. In that case if you can not sacrifice the time to spend with your children then perhaps you shouldn’t have anymore children period. These are trying times, it is crystal clear by the actions of the youth of today that something has clearly has gone wrong.

This is a shocking news.
I do agree. At the same time there are a lot more distractions (ie: video games, tv, computers) that we did not have as much of growing up. The kids are too distracted to pay attention to reality. I see it in my own children day after day. I am a stay at home mom, and my children get a lot of attention.
You are so right. I work in a school system, so I see a lot of scary things on a daily basis (not to mention a total lack of parent involvement).
Every time my kids asked me why they got punished for something, I would tell them it was because there were more than enough irresponsible idiots on this planet already and I refuse to add one more :o)
