Write to Senior General Than Shwe
1 comments Friday, November 27, 2009On May 14, 2009, Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of the National League for Democracy, and two of her assistants were taken from her home to Insein Prison following an incident in which an American man allegedly swam across a lake to her house and stayed there for two days. Suu Kyi was subsequently put on trial for breaching the terms of her house arrest, and was sentenced to an additional 18 months under house arrest on August 11, 2009. These charges and punishment are politically motivated and fail to meet international and national legal standards. The only issue here is her immediate and unconditional release.
Call on Than Shwe, the head of the military junta, to immediately release Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners in Myanmar.

here is a sample letter:
Dear Than Shwe - Senior General
I write to you out of deep concern at the guilty verdict of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on August 11, 2009. This incident is the latest human rights abuse inflicted upon the Nobel Peace Prize winner, who has been detained for 13 of the last 20 years, mostly under house arrest.
On 11 August a court in Yangon's Insein prison found Myanmar's pro-democracy leader guilty of violating the conditions of her house arrest, after an uninvited man spent two nights there in early May. Under Section 22 of Myanmar's State Protection Act of 1975, the court sentenced Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to three years' imprisonment, commuted to 18 months under house arrest.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi should have never been arrested in the first place and I urge your government to demonstrate Myanmar's commitment to human rights by ordering the immediate and unconditional release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all other prisoners of conscience being held in Myanmar.
I thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to your reply.
Sincerely

Mine Ban Treaty
0 comments Tuesday, November 24, 2009
Landmines claim thousands of casualties every year and inhibit socio-economic development in countries recovering from conflict. As Commander in Chief, President Obama has an opportunity to get US landmine policy back on the right track by acceding to the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty, an international agreement that 156 governments have joined.
The US participated in the “Ottawa Process” that created this international treaty, but the Clinton administration decided at the last moment against signing and instead set 2006 as the objective for the US to join. In February 2004, the Bush administration reversed course and announced that it did not ever intend to join the Mine Ban Treaty.
The United States is already compliant with the key provisions of the Mine Ban Treaty. It has not used antipersonnel mines since 1991, has had an export ban in place since 1992, and has not produced since 1997. The US is already the world’s largest contributor to global mine clearance and victim assistance programs. Acceding to the treaty would reinforce President Obama’s stated commitment to international humanitarian law, protection of civilians, arms control and disarmament, and multilateralism.
Tell President Obama that you support the landmine ban and want to see the United States join the Mine Ban Treaty without delay.
It is important that we the United States get president Obama to sign this Mine Ban Treaty. There are too many innocent people getting hurt from them. Most of these mine have been laid down in the ground since past time wars. It is really important that we end landmines. Here is a letter to be written to the president of the United States
Dear President Obama,
I am writing to urge the United States to join the 1997 treaty banning antipersonnel landmines.

Capitalism: A Love Story
0 comments Sunday, November 22, 2009On the 20-year anniversary of his groundbreaking masterpiece Roger & Me, Michael Moore's Capitalism: A Love Story comes home to the issue he's been examining throughout his career: the disastrous impact of corporate dominance on the everyday lives of Americans (and by default, the rest of the world). But this time the culprit is much bigger than General Motors, and the crime scene far wider than Flint, Michigan. From Middle America, to the halls of power in Washington, to the global financial epicenter in Manhattan, Michael Moore will once again take film goers into uncharted territory. With both humor and outrage, Michael Moore's Capitalism: A Love Story explores a taboo question: What is the price that America pays for its love of capitalism? Years ago, that love seemed so innocent. Today, however, the American dream is looking more like a nightmare as families pay the price with their jobs, their homes and their savings. Moore takes us into the homes of ordinary people whose lives have been turned upside down; and he goes looking for explanations in Washington, DC and elsewhere. What he finds are the all-too-familiar symptoms of a love affair gone astray: lies, abuse, betrayal...and 14,000 jobs being lost every day. Capitalism: A Love Story is both a culmination of Moore's previous works and a look into what a more hopeful future could look like. It is Michael Moore's ultimate quest to answer the question he's posed throughout his illustrious filmmaking career: Who are we and why do we behave the way that we do?

Rape victim's parents charged with abuse

The parents of an 8-year-old Liberian girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted by four boys in July were arrested Friday on child abuse charges, according to Arizona police.
The father, 59, and mother, 47, were arrested Friday in Phoenix on seven counts of child abuse, said police spokesman Sgt. Andy Hill. Police were waiting for them at their home after the Maricopa County Attorney's Office issued the warrants.
The names of the parents have been withheld by CNN to avoid identifying the daughter, who is an alleged rape victim.
The child abuse investigation was based on documented incidents from the Phoenix Police Department and numerous referrals to Arizona Child Protective Services dating to 2005.
Police said the parents, refugees from the West African nation, used sticks, wires and their fists to hit their young daughter.
Witnesses told CNN affiliate KTVK that the parents left their daughter wandering their apartment complex alone at night, begging for food.
Details of the girl's assault last summer shocked the nation. She was allegedly lured to a storage shed, pinned down and gang-raped by four boys, none of them older than 14.
The parents said they felt they had been shamed by their child and blamed her for being victimized. As a result, the girl was taken from her home and placed in state custody.
Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said at the time that the parents' reaction was wrong and that they needed counseling.
We need to prevent these kind of things from happing. I feel so sorry for this little girl. How can people blame someone for being raped, especially their own daughter? I have heard that Islamic religion blames the women as well. Rape is where you are forced to have sex. How can we make people realize that rape isn’t the victims fault? I am glad that this child was taken away from her family. I wish there was more I could then just writing about it. I wish we could join together some how and teach people that rape is not the victims fault. I wish I could help this little girl and people out there in this world that is just like her.

2009 First Year of Global Governance
0 comments Friday, November 20, 20092009 is also the first year of global governance, with the establishment of the G20 in the middle of the financial crisis. The climate conference in Copenhagen is another step towards the global management of our planet.”
Rompuy attended a Bilderberg dinner at Hertoginnendal, Brussels on November 15th, during which he announced a plan to implement EU wide taxes that will be paid directly to Brussels. Recently Mario Borghezio (Italy), member of the European Parliament, spoke openly against the influence of globalist organizations such as the Bilderberg Group and the Trilateral Commission. “Is it possible that no one has noticed that all 3 (EU Presidential candidates) frequently attend Bilderberg or Trilateral meetings?,” asked Borghezio. Rompuy will undoubtedly serve globalist interests during his reign of the European Union. (infowars.com 2009)
We are closer then ever toward a one world government. We the people of the United States of America has to stand up against this. We the people have to stand up for our rights and the American constitution. The government was not placed to rule over the people but to stand up for the people and protect our rights. They are suppose to listen to us, not rule over us.
Fall of The Republic
0 comments Wednesday, November 18, 2009
Fall Of The Republic documents how an offshore corporate cartel is bankrupting the US economy by design. Leaders are now declaring that world government has arrived and that the dollar will be replaced by a new global currency.
President Obama has brazenly violated Article 1 Section 9 of the US Constitution by seating himself at the head of United Nations’ Security Council, thus becoming the first US president to chair the world body.
A scientific dictatorship is in its final stages of completion, and laws protecting basic human rights are being abolished worldwide; an iron curtain of high-tech tyranny is now descending over the planet.
A worldwide regime controlled by an unelected corporate elite is implementing a planetary carbon tax system that will dominate all human activity and establish a system of neo-feudal slavery.
The image makers have carefully packaged Obama as the world’s savior; he is the Trojan Horse manufactured to pacify the people just long enough for the globalists to complete their master plan.
This film reveals the architecture of the New World Order and what the power elite have in store for humanity. More importantly it communicates how We The People can retake control of our government, turn the criminal tide and bring the tyrants to justice
U.S. has time to reconsider Iraq drawdown plan: Odierno
0 comments
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The U.S. military does not have to decide until April or May whether to push back the end of its combat operations in Iraq due to a possible delay in the country's next election, the U.S. commander said Wednesday.
President Barack Obama has pledged to end U.S. combat operations in Iraq by August 31, 2010, ahead of a full pullout by the end of 2011. The U.S. force in Iraq is supposed to be reduced to 50,000 by next September from around 115,000 now.
A veto by Iraq's vice president of a law needed for the election to take place in January raised the possibility once again that the ballot would have to be delayed.
That could affect the August 31 drawdown date, U.S. officials have said.
"I feel very confident that we don't have to make any decision until late spring," General Ray Odierno told reporters.
"That would then be based on, if we believe there is some sort of instability that would be created that would swiftly change the path that Iraq is on, and if that happened then we'd have to go back and get further guidance from Washington."
"But I don't see that happening right now," he added.
Under a bilateral security pact signed last year, all U.S. troops must withdraw from Iraq by the end of 2011.
The date for the end of combat operations is not included in the agreement but was set by Obama as part of a pledge to U.S. voters to end the war in Iraq.
The U.S. military's plans for sending more troops to Afghanistan to fight a resurgent Taliban also hinges on its ability to draw down in Iraq.
Violence has fallen sharply in the past 18 months but suicide bombings remain common.
U.S. officials say the 60-day period after Iraq's next election will likely reveal whether the country will tip back into sectarian bloodshed or move toward stability and peace.
Odierno wants to retain a muscular U.S. presence in Iraq, capable of assisting Iraqi troops or police, until there is clarity about the security situation.
"What I believe I have is flexibility and that's the most important thing -- that I have flexibility if we see a problem that we can adjust. And that's what I can do between now and May, that's for sure," Odierno said.
"I think I have time until April or May to go back and ask if we have to defer from the 31 August date that the president has set. Right now I believe we can meet that date."
Time and time again I say this. We need to let Iraq stand on their own two feet, and get our troops home. TIme and Time again, I hear Obama’s pledge to bring our troops home. Well We are still waiting. We are still wanting Mr president. Where are the promises you have made to this nation? Where are those promises? It is time to move on. It is time for our women and men to be safe in the arms of their loved ones.
IT IS TIME!!!!

Ukraine flu death toll goes up - British labs test to ID flu as H1N1, Spanish flu, or something else
Samples of the Ukraine flu virus were provided to a British lab, for testing
to
conclusively subtype the virus. Learning whether the virus is a mutated
form of
the H1N1 swine flu, or an entirely new type of flu virus, will help
health
officials and members of the public take necessary measures for
protection from
this deadly disease.
"We don't believe it's H1N1
swine flu. Neither do we know what kind of pneumonia it is," states Ukrainian
emergency physician Myron Borysevych. The Daily Mail states that doctors are
likening this strain of the flu to the Spanish flu, which included internal
hemorrhage and edema in the lungs.
Looks like there is a new flu coming around, Right now Ukraine is dealing with it.

Where does it leave us? How can we protect ourselves? We can not even protect ourselves against the h1n1. Even the new flu shots are not 100% reliable when it comes to the h1n1. I have known 5 people so far that wound up getting the shot for safety precautions and they still wound up with the h1n1. In Indiana the flu is rampant all over the place. It has gotten real bad. Knock on wood that I never get it. With me having MS it is liable to be worse for me then others. I am writing this out to warn people that the flu we are dealing with now is just a baby compared to the one Ukraine is dealing with right now.

Obama urges Myanmar to free democracy leader Suu Kyi - CNN.com
0 comments Monday, November 16, 2009Obama urges Myanmar to free democracy leader Suu Kyi - CNN.com
Singapore (CNN) -- President Obama on Sunday called for the release of Myanmar democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other political prisoners.
"There are clear steps that must be taken: the unconditional release of all political prisoners, including Aung San Suu Kyi; an end to conflicts with minority groups; and a genuine dialogue between the government, the democratic opposition and minority groups,"
Well I have to say good job Obama on this. I think it is wonderful that he is standing up to Myanmar. I hope Obama can persuade the political leaders of Myanmar to set all political prisoners free. It did make me wonder though, how many political prisoners does Myanmar keep in prison?
